It's been such a long time...

I was really just starting to get the hang of blogging when my memory card for my camera crashed and I lost all of the pics from my son's 4th birthday party, my birthday celebration, and my sister-in-law's birthday.  I was so upset.  After my amazing friend Shannon recovered them for me and I got the pics saved I just never picked back up the blogging duties.

So here is a crash course in the last few months!

January is the month of birthdays for our house.  It's a whirl-wind!

My God-Daughter turned 3!  She's a diva, through and through, so of course we had a Princess Party!

My son turned 4! *sniff, sniff* He's my baby boy and is growing up so fast. He had a Toy Story party...and usually the kid gets jipped in the birthday department but not this year. I must admit that he had a kick-ass birthday party. I even made gummy candies and the day was topped off with Toy Story music in the background! It was GREAT!

My birthday and my sister-in-law's birthday are just days after my son's.  So we had another get-together with some friends @ Chili's to celebrate.  They are amazing friends...it was a great dinner and I got a massage!  Way to go RaRa!!

Last but certainly not least, my dearest friends had a little gathering for myself, Sandy, and Desirae's birthdays.  They are AWESOME and chipped in and got me a banging new camera!  Hip, Hip, Hooray!  The rest of us chipped in and got Sandy and Des massages for their birthday gifts!

Spending time with loved ones...friends or family really makes turning 29 seem not so bad after all.

Other interesting January news....I ran/walked my first 5K!

Snow day. January 10, 2011

Today was a perfect family snow day.  We woke up to about 5-6" of snow.  A winter wonderland.  The kids were so excited.  We decided to take a little trip to Village Park.  Good grief, it was freezing.  We left the park after about an hour.  We were all red faced with runny noses and frozen toes.  It was a blast!

Caleb slid down the hill like a champ.  At the end he looks at me and says, "Cheese!"

My snow angels. <3

After warming up and relaxing for a while we cooked dinner then Casey made snow cream for dessert!  It was delish, he did GREAT for his first time making it.  The boys were VERY excited!!

Go Vols!

This past Saturday was Cody's first basketball game.  He was stoked!  We were rocking the orange to help cheer on our little baller!  Robyn, a few of her EMS pals showed up along with the Carey's to show thier support too!  We are so lucky to have such wonderful people in our lives that love us and our kids!

They don't keep score in this age bracket...but if they did, we would have won by one basket!  Woo hoo...not that I'm that crazy competitive mom or anything.  That is most definately not me.  Everyone likes to win...but as long as we have fun, that is ALL THAT MATTERS!

So proud of my little basketball player!

Tonight was the introduction of players for Cody's basketball team.  He's playing for the Vols, I'm going to need to invest in something orange so my baby can see me supporting him from the sidelines! (Yes, I know this is just a ploy to shop...Don't judge me!

Can I just express a few concerns, you know as his mother...the one who has to clean up the boo boos and wipe the tears.

My hubby and I made the decision at the first practice to place our little shrimp with a younger age bracket of players.  He should/could be in the 6-8 year olds.  I took one look at these kids and gasped.  They were at least 6" taller and a good 15 lbs heaver than my little guy.  I know, I know, I know....don't count out the little guy.  I didn't...I counted broken bones and sprained body parts.  I literally freaked out.  So we moved him to the 4-5 age group.  Yes, he is now the big kid...but, the skill level seemed to match up better.

I'm trying to remain positive...but at this moment, I'm going to say I am a much bigger fan of soccer than this basketball stuff.  Although, he looks so cute in his jersey and basketball shorts!  Wish us luck!  Go Vols!!!

Baby it's cold outside...

I'm so proud of me!  Allow me to toot my own horn...for just a few minutes anyways.  I've worked out Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week.  Just walking for now...but it's a great start.

Last night it was definitely cold outside, so Sandy, Shaylene, and I braved the wind and chilly temps and walked downtown.  It was great.  Afterward I felt so refreshed.  I don't mind walking in the mall, but there is just something about walking in the fresh air.  Ahhhhh, just makes you feel good!

After the walk I came home to a freshly grilled steak that was DELISH, thanks to my hubby!  I've been eating better this week too.  I was down two pounds from the initial weigh in with Biggest Loser and I'm working hard to drink lots of water and eat the right type of snacks.  For me, that means run as far as I can get from the chips and sweet tea!

I'd say that this week is a successful attempt at living a healthier lifestyle!

Biggest Loser

Biggest Loser begins.  My wonderful mommies group www.centralpiedmontmommies.com has our own BL group, there are 25 or so women participating and we are looking forward to supporting each other and dropping a few pounds at the same time.

I'm very unhappy with my body right now...this isn't the largest I have been, but the number is much higher than I want it to be.

Tomorrow we are going for a group walk.  We use to do this twice a week every week and then slacked off over the summer because of the heat.  Excuses, I know.  No excuses tomorrow...the strawberries and bananas are ready to make a smoothie, my workout clothes are laid out, and I have my walking shoes ready!

Tomorrow is also weigh-in day.  Ugh...Good luck to my BL friends.

It's a new day in the neighborhood!

As I reflect on 2010 I'm amazed at how truly blessed I am.  New friendships were made, old friendships were strengthened, my business is soaring to heights I never imagined, both of my boys reached new milestones this year with Cody starting kkindergarten and playing soccer, Caleb started preschool and speech and is making leaps and bounds of improvements, amazed...that is what I am.  At church last night Scott said, "Live each day as it is your last, make each day extraordinary."  It's so true, with all of the great things in 2010 we of course had rough moments too.  I lost my dear Grandma...she will forever be missed.  The memories we shared are so very dear to me, and I wish everyday that I would have take a few more minutes out of my busy schedule to spend time with her.  Not to mention the big MOVE!  My family and friends packed up my little sister and brother-in-law and helped them start a new journey in Indiana last week.  It was so heartbreaking to see them go, but I'm looking forward to visiting soon and getting to learn all about a new place.  I'm such a proud big sister.  I wish you both the very best and I'll be counting the days until we get to visit!

Now, let's talk about goals.  I'm not going to say it's a resolution...but I want to make some changes and I'm setting goals...baby steps, right?
1. Eat healthier, exercise, and drink more water.
-So far I'm off to a great start.  I've joined a Biggest Loser group, cut back on portions, skipped the bread, and have been drinking water.  Now if I can just squeeze in some breakfast...I will be doing good.
2. Start a blog...well I can chek that off my list.
3. Do a 365
-I've always got a camera in someone's face...so why not.  I've already taken photos on the 1st and 2nd, now to just get them updated.
4. Do a 5K
-I've already come across one in the area and I am going to sign up today.  I'm looking for friends to join me, I can't wait.
5. SAVE $
-This is a process...but I'm already checking pockets and purses and filling up the piggy bank.  You have to start somewhere right?
6. Make time for adult things and spending quality time with Casey.
-We are already planning a snow tubing trip to West Virginia in February.
7. Get back to church!
-We attended the Flood service last night @ United Weslyn with friends and so we are off to a great start on that as well.

So, here's to new adventures in 2011~Cheers!
