Ice Skating!

I've never been ice skating before...well until now.  We took the kids skating to celebrate Kynlee's 5th birthday and just hang out.  We had a GREAT time and the kids jumped right on the ice like pros!  Even though it was about 60 degrees outside and we quickly took off our coats it was lots of fun and we will definitely go back next year!

Back to normal.

It's been a busy week.  The kids and hubby's first full week back to school and work and my classes began this week too.  By mid week we had grumpy kids, exhausted parents, and laundry piled high.  Just a typical week.  Thankfully it was filled with good food, dinners with friends, lunch with my mom, working out, LifeGroup with my awesome High Rockers, a wine tasting date with my hubby, and ended on a high note tonight with our Saturday service at church.  I'm so thankful to such an amazing group of people in my life!

So taking a cue from my friend are my weekly Random Thoughts.

  • Spending time with those you love is priceless.
  • Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself...don't let anyone bully you.
  • Choose your own path.  Don't stand in the shadows.
  • Spending quality time with my hubby is important.
  • Staying caught up on the laundry is nothing short of a miracle.
  • Volunteering is very important to me.
  • I love menu planning.
  • I love it when I find things I bought and forgot about buying them!  It's like Christmas!
  • Don't underestimate your kids.  They will surprise you everyday.
  • Even on the bad days...I'm so blessed to have my amazing boys.

Happy New Year

I haven't posted here in such a long time.  I thought it would be fun to start posting again.  So much has changed over the last year.  Earlier tonight I was reflecting on those changes and I cannot begin to describe how truly blessed I am.  I have a great husband who works so hard to provide for his family, I have the two most AMAZING kids anyone could ask for, I got a second chance to go back to school, I have my own business, I have a wonderful family, oodles of friends, and a church family that is oozing with love for our God!  WOW!  I'm humbled by how awesome my life is.  Sure there are things that suck, they suck a LOT, I complain waaaaaay too often, I whine a lot, and sometimes I'm down right selfish...but I'm human!  Take me as I am or don't take me at all.  I'm looking forward to starting a new chapter in 2013.  Who knows what it will hold, but I do know that I am going in head first, guns a blazing, and ready to take on the world.  One hug at a time, one memory at a time, one cake at a time, one boo-boo at a time, and most day at a time!

It's been such a long time...

I was really just starting to get the hang of blogging when my memory card for my camera crashed and I lost all of the pics from my son's 4th birthday party, my birthday celebration, and my sister-in-law's birthday.  I was so upset.  After my amazing friend Shannon recovered them for me and I got the pics saved I just never picked back up the blogging duties.

So here is a crash course in the last few months!

January is the month of birthdays for our house.  It's a whirl-wind!

My God-Daughter turned 3!  She's a diva, through and through, so of course we had a Princess Party!

My son turned 4! *sniff, sniff* He's my baby boy and is growing up so fast. He had a Toy Story party...and usually the kid gets jipped in the birthday department but not this year. I must admit that he had a kick-ass birthday party. I even made gummy candies and the day was topped off with Toy Story music in the background! It was GREAT!

My birthday and my sister-in-law's birthday are just days after my son's.  So we had another get-together with some friends @ Chili's to celebrate.  They are amazing was a great dinner and I got a massage!  Way to go RaRa!!

Last but certainly not least, my dearest friends had a little gathering for myself, Sandy, and Desirae's birthdays.  They are AWESOME and chipped in and got me a banging new camera!  Hip, Hip, Hooray!  The rest of us chipped in and got Sandy and Des massages for their birthday gifts!

Spending time with loved ones...friends or family really makes turning 29 seem not so bad after all.

Other interesting January news....I ran/walked my first 5K!

Snow day. January 10, 2011

Today was a perfect family snow day.  We woke up to about 5-6" of snow.  A winter wonderland.  The kids were so excited.  We decided to take a little trip to Village Park.  Good grief, it was freezing.  We left the park after about an hour.  We were all red faced with runny noses and frozen toes.  It was a blast!

Caleb slid down the hill like a champ.  At the end he looks at me and says, "Cheese!"

My snow angels. <3

After warming up and relaxing for a while we cooked dinner then Casey made snow cream for dessert!  It was delish, he did GREAT for his first time making it.  The boys were VERY excited!!

Go Vols!

This past Saturday was Cody's first basketball game.  He was stoked!  We were rocking the orange to help cheer on our little baller!  Robyn, a few of her EMS pals showed up along with the Carey's to show thier support too!  We are so lucky to have such wonderful people in our lives that love us and our kids!

They don't keep score in this age bracket...but if they did, we would have won by one basket!  Woo hoo...not that I'm that crazy competitive mom or anything.  That is most definately not me.  Everyone likes to win...but as long as we have fun, that is ALL THAT MATTERS!

So proud of my little basketball player!

Tonight was the introduction of players for Cody's basketball team.  He's playing for the Vols, I'm going to need to invest in something orange so my baby can see me supporting him from the sidelines! (Yes, I know this is just a ploy to shop...Don't judge me!

Can I just express a few concerns, you know as his mother...the one who has to clean up the boo boos and wipe the tears.

My hubby and I made the decision at the first practice to place our little shrimp with a younger age bracket of players.  He should/could be in the 6-8 year olds.  I took one look at these kids and gasped.  They were at least 6" taller and a good 15 lbs heaver than my little guy.  I know, I know, I know....don't count out the little guy.  I didn't...I counted broken bones and sprained body parts.  I literally freaked out.  So we moved him to the 4-5 age group.  Yes, he is now the big kid...but, the skill level seemed to match up better.

I'm trying to remain positive...but at this moment, I'm going to say I am a much bigger fan of soccer than this basketball stuff.  Although, he looks so cute in his jersey and basketball shorts!  Wish us luck!  Go Vols!!!
